The Direct Access Test, is actually a Direct Access Scheme whereby riders aged 24 or over, or those who have held their A2 licence for two years, can complete the training and take the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) motorcycle test.

Once you have completed the course and passed the tests, you will be entitled to ride any size bike.

What Do I Need To Take The Direct Access Test?

You will need the following:

  • to be over 24 years of age OR hold an A2 licence for two years.
  • Motorcycle theory test certificate. Click here to book your test on the Government website.
  • Valid CBT certificate. Click here to find out more about CBT training.

What Is Involved With The Direct Access Scheme?

The Direct Access Scheme is made up of two modules.  The purpose of these modules is to demonstrate that you can handle and manoeuvre the bike safely at the training site, and on the road in real-life situations.

The number of training days required depends on your riding ability. We have found that by taking a Rider Assessment, we will be able to assess your ability and recommend the best course for you.  What’s more, you will increase the probability of passing the test whilst ensuring that your learning experience is completed accurately, safely and confidently.

We are open Monday – Saturday, and the training course duration is 8.15am – 4pm.  We must ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the course to complete any paperwork required.  The course will start promptly at 8.15am and unfortunately we cannot wait for any late-comers.

Module 1

This course is all about practicing riding the bike in a controlled environment.  We are lucky enough to have exclusive access of 300m2 training sites in Watford and Harrow where you can safely practice control of the bike in a variety of conditions.

At weekends, we also have access to the official DSA exam site where you can practice on the actual tarmac where you will take your exam.

For further information on the Module 1 course, take a look at this DSA video.

Module 2

Module 2 is all about demonstrating your ability to ride safely on the roads. Firstly we will take you to the actual test area where you will take your exam, and will practice riding on roads, roundabouts, junctions and dual carriageways.

The exam itself will last 40 minutes.  We are confident that you will approach the exam positively and achieve a good result due to the extensive training delivered by our professional team.
