If you have been thinking about taking motorcycle lessons, then look no further than North London Motorcycle Training. Based in Edgware, North London, we have over 40 years’ experience with London motorcycle training. Whether it’s your first motorbike lesson or you want to improve your skills, we have the perfect motorcycle training course for you.

If you’re a motorcycle novice, then the first step is to apply for your provisional motorcycle licence. Once you are a provisional motorcycle licence holder, the next step is to book your CBT (Compulsory Basic Training). You can take your CBT from the age of 16 but until you pass you must be in radio contact with a motorcycle training instructor at all times. You can also only ride a 50cc motorbike and must display a Learner plate. Once you turn 17, you can ride a 125cc motorbike, but the same rules apply.

When looking for a motorcycle training provider, check that they are an Approved Training Body authorised by the DVSA and that they can deliver your CBT course and issue your CBT certificate (DL196) on site.

Is there a CBT test centre near me?

Our CBT training and test centre is in Edgware, North London. You can find us here. We’re open 7 days a week from 8am – 6 pm.

What does our CBT training cover?

When you arrive for your motorbike training, our instructor will discuss your previous experience and what you want to achieve from motorcycle riding. A check will be made of your provisional motorbike licence and a simple eyesight test will be conducted where you will be asked to read a number plate at 20.5 metres.

The CBT test involves motorcycle theory, practical training at our dedicated CBT training centre, practical riding skills at the CBT training centre and practical riding on-road.

Each stage takes as long as it takes for you to be comfortable and confident and is at the discretion of the motorcycle instructor. The final on-road practice riding has a compulsory minimum duration of 4 hours.
